  • Figure out what she really thinks about Fang.
  • Get revenge on the one person she thought she could trust.

Not necessarily in that order, of course.

What I Didn't Like:

Nothing!!!

My Rating: 5 stars

Precisely Terminated by Amanda L. Davis REVIEW

The Cantral Chronicles: Book One

Summary:

With microchips implanted in their skulls at birth, the slaves of Cillineese and Cantral have labored under the tyrannical rule of the nobles and their computers for centuries. Monica, a noble who avoided the implanting and escaped a death sentence at the age of four, is now sixteen and is in hiding. She lives with the slaves inside the walls of the Cantral palace, pretending to be one of them while the slave council plots a way to use her chip-less state to destroy the all-powerful computers that strike down any hint of rebellion.
The fate of millions rides on Monica's shoulders. As the only chip-less person in the world, she must find a way to destroy the computers and free Cillineese from the nobles' iron fist before they strike with the ultimate punishment - death for everyone inside the city walls.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch REVIEW

Summary:

Sixteen years ago, the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now the Winterians' only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter's magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.
Orphaned as an infant during Winter's defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians' general, Sir. Training to be a warrior - and desperately in love with her best friend and future king, Mather - she would do anything to help Winter rise to power again.
So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore their magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she's scaling towers and fighting enemy soldiers just as she's always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn't go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics - and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

What I Liked:

I enjoyed the majority of the book, and there probably isn't enough room to describe each part, but I really enjoyed Meira's visions about Hannah.

What I Didn't Like:

This book swore a few times. About one-third of this book was boring. I didn't like how Mather acted like he liked Meira for half of the book and then told her that she would get married to a prince from another kingdom, although I did like the prince that Meira is supposed to marry.

My Rating: 3 stars

The Girl in the Steel Corset by Katy Cross REVIEW

The Steampunk Chronicles: Book One

Summary:

In 1897 England, sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne has no one . . . except the "thing" inside her. When a young lord tries to take advantage of Finley, she fights back. And wins. But no normal Victorian girl has a darker side that makes her capable of knocking out a full-grown man with one punch . . .
Only Griffin King sees the magical darkness inside her that says she's special, says she's one of them. The orphaned duke takes her in from the gaslit streets against the wishes of his band of misfits: Emily, who has her own special abilities and an unrequited love for Sam, who is part robot; and Jasper, an American cowboy with a shadowy secret.
Griffin's investigating a criminal called The Machinist, the mastermind behind several recent crimes by automatons. Finley thinks she can help - and finally be a part of something, finally fit in.
But The Machinist wants to tear Griffin's little company of strays apart, and it isn't long before trust is tested on all sides. At least Finley knows whose side she's on - even if it seems no one believes her.

What I liked:

This book was really good. Finley is a strong character who is brave and will do anything to protect herself and her friends. The two sides of her, the good and the dark, don't really help her when she is accused of murdering Felix August-Raynes, the man she hates who tried to take advantage of her, but Griffin helps her when she is struggling.

What I didn't like:

This book swore a little. Sam gets kind of violent when he realizes how much of him is machine, and the Victoria automaton was really weird.

My Rating: 4.5 stars

Dualed by Elsie Chapman REVIEW

Summary:

The city of Kersh is a haven, but the price of safety is high. Everyone has a genetic Alternate, a twin raised by another family, and teens must prove their worth by eliminating their Alts before their twentieth birthday. Survival means advanced schooling, a good job, marriage - life.
West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day when her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt. But a tragic misstep shakes West's confidence. Stricken with grief and guilt, she's no longer certain that she's the best version of herself, the version worthy of a future. If she is to have any chance of winning, she must stop running not only from her Alt, but also from love . . . though both have the power to destroy her.

What I liked:

This book was very good. West is a strong character, but struggles when her brother, Luc, dies(SPOILER). She is much like any of us. When she becomes a striker (assassin for hire) to train for when she is told to kill her Alt, she later regrets it a lot. There was a lot of action and description of Kersh, like how it started and why the city is what it is.

What I didn't like:

Dualed had a few parts where it swore. When West gets shot by Glade, Chord takes care of her wound but she had to take her arm out of her sleeve. She tries to cover herself up, but it doesn't work well. Thankfully, Chord wasn't paying attention. Earlier in the book, West goes into an underwear store to escape Chord, but he follows her (awkward!).

My Rating: 3.5 stars

My Epic Fail at an Introduction

Hello. My name is Madam Red. This is my new blog and my first time blogging. I will be posting book reviews, pictures, fandom stuff, possibly movie reviews, and probably other things. You might ask what the title of this blog means. It doesn't really make sense if you don't watch Doctor Who. My friend and I made it up on November 23, 2013 after we watched the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day Of the Doctor". The zygons were the villains in this episode and were able to change what they looked like to look like anyone. I hope it isn't too confusing. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy this blog . . .
