Don't Cosplay With My Heart by Cecil Castellucci REVIEW

Summary:

When Edan Kupgerman dresses up like her favorite character, Gargantua, she feels tall and powerful. That's important right now, because her family is a mess, her best friend is gone for the summer, her crush is confusing, and Edan's feeling small and not sure which end is up.
When Edan's cosplaying, she can be angry, loud, and not the good girl everyone thinks she is. And when she's at conventions, she feels like she's found her own Team Tomorrow. But when her personal life starts to spiral out of control, Edan has to figure out whether she needs a sidekick, or if she has the strength to be the hero of her own story.

My Thoughts:

I was a bit worried to read this because of all the not so good reviews, but I ended up enjoying it. It's a nice fast read if you don't want a huge book with a complicated storyline.
Edan is a very sensitive person. Her only best friend is in Japan for her dad's work, and she doesn't have anyone to hang out with until she finally has the courage to ask out her crush.
Basically he turns out to be an a-hole toward her about two thirds into the book and a huge jerk. Edan's dad is on trial for something, her mom can't pull herself together, and her grandma isn't helpful at all toward her.
Overall, it's good for a mindless reading.

My Rating: 4 stars
